The Beatles were a band that captured the world’s attention at the time and continue to influence music now. Music can be hugely impactful. As I sit here at my desk reflecting on The Beatles’ legacy, some principles come to mind that could help us build a better tomorrow.
To my mind, three of those principles are:
Set the tone.
Not everyone can sing well.
In fact, it’s possible to be tone deaf and blissfully unaware of the fact. In the car, we can turn up the music and belt out a hit with the music turned up so loud that nobody can tell how good (or bad) we sound.
So how do we improve? Well, first we need to be honest. If we face reality, then we can do something about it.
Tuning into yourself and assessing your future can be uncomfortable. Alternatively, we can turn up the distractions and escape in the moment, but unfortunately short-term living has a price.
At GL Financial we help you face reality with our GL Passport. We ask you what you want out of life and then help you make the smaller decisions which will facilitate the larger goals.
Music to your ears.
When you’ve faced reality and understand that the future is closer than you think, it really is music to your ears.
You see, you write the soundtrack to your life with the choices you make now. Many songs are based on life experience; we love the songs that connect. When we listen to an old song that has memories attached, it takes us right back to that very moment.
When you have your goals aligned to you values – what matters most – you are reminded of why you’re committed to them. They take you right back to the everyday choices that inspire, making you adjust your behaviour in the short term to embrace the tomorrow you dream of.
Give your dreams a voice.
When you have committed to your dreams you are one step closer to reality. Dreams have to become reality and, when they do, the evidence of your commitment is there for everyone to see.
Some guitarists start life dreaming of being able to play a song that they love. Others have the desire to play on a stage in front of millions. Ambition will determine the level of sacrifice required. It’s the same with our financial choices.
Based on your level of ambition, our team will not only help you establish yourself but also open other doors of opportunity. The larger rewards may have a bigger risk attached, but that risk has to be aligned to your goals. Calculated risks are informed choices and we make sure you know what is needed to get the show on the road.
Not too ‘pitchy’, or too ‘low’ as to go unnoticed, we find the solution for you. Investing must work for you in both the short term and long term.
To sum up.
Tomorrow isn’t something we should fear but rather embrace its opportunity today. So, if you want your life to look less like the “Fool on the Hill” and more like ‘Getting Better’, then make sure you seek “A Little Help From Your Friends” at GL Integrity. “All your life you were waiting for this moment to arrive.”
